The corresponding letter was sent by the RusRetail to the authority

Earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation held a working meeting with participation of representatives of retail networks, FAS Russia and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, industry experts, where a proposal was made to extend the initiative to limit margins on socially significant goods to regional retail chains that have not yet joined it.

In accordance with the letter of the RusRetail received today by FAS Russia, after the proposal announced at the said meeting, about 30 retail chains from 25 regions of Russia* assumed voluntary obligations to limit their own margins at a level of no more than 5 % of the purchase price for certain categories of socially significant goods.

These include bread, milk, vegetables of the "borscht set", sugar, poultry, chicken eggs, cabbage, bananas, apples, frozen fish, cheese, chicken sausage, buckwheat, sunflower oil, wheat and barley groats, baby food, cookies, caramel, toothpaste, toilet paper, soap, liquid soap, cleaning powder, hygiene products, batteries.

According to FAS Russia, limiting trade margins on socially significant goods while ensuring their availability on store shelves will increase the availability of such products for citizens. FAS Russia will monitor the fulfillment by retailers of their voluntary obligations.

Recall that a number of federal chains already hold voluntarily assumed obligations to limit up to 5 % margins on certain items of 4 product categories (dairy products, sugar, vegetables "borscht set", bread and bakery products).
