FAS ISSUED PRECAUTION REGARDING PUBLIC STATEMENT ABOUT THE INCREASE IN PRICES FOR PORK MEAT

Such a forecast was announced by the Chairman of the Council of the Association of Peasant (Farm) Enterprises and Agricultural Cooperatives of Russia

On September 21, 2023 the media quoted statement predicting an increase in prices for pork meat in the near future.

The authority notes that such statements can be perceived as an incentive to increase prices by market participants, as well as provoke a rush demand from consumers. A precaution is a preventive measure designed to prevent violations of antimonopoly legislation.

The authority recalls the prohibition of coordinating the actions of competing economic entities, which may lead to price fixing or price maintenance.

FAS Russia warns about the obligation of strict compliance with the requirements of antimonopoly legislation. In case of detection of signs of illegal behavior and economically unjustified fixing of prices by individual companies, FAS Russia will suppress abusive practices and take antimonopoly response measures immediately.
