FAS INITIATED A CASE AGAINST URAL STEEL JSC
Since the end of 2022, prices for steel billets have increased by more than 40 %
According to the authority, the company's actions in 2023 contain signs of violation of antimonopoly legislation. They were expressed in the setting and maintenance of a monopolistically high price for two types of blanks necessary for the production of solid-rolled wheels. It is a circular continuously cast wheel blank of Mark 2 and Mark T used for the production of railway all-rolled wheels.
Based on the analysis of the state of competition, the authority found that the Ural Steel company occupies a dominant position in the market. An analysis of the organization's economic activity indicators showed that since the end of 2022, the price increase for the steel billet has been over 40 % with a slight change in production cost.
The authority has initiated a case of violation of antimonopoly legislation* against Ural Steel Company.
If the organization is found guilty, it faces a fine in accordance with the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation.
