RUSSIA AND INDIA CONTINUE TO DEVELOP COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF COMPETITION
Maxim Shaskolsky, Head of FAS Russia, held a meeting with Ravneet Kaur, Chairperson of the Competition Commission of India
The parties discussed the state and prospects of cooperation between competition agencies of both countries. Cooperation between FAS Russia and the Competition Commission of India is based on the Memorandum signed in 2011.
According to Maxim Shaskolsky, the agencies regularly exchange news about the latest changes and trends in antimonopoly legislation of their countries. In addition, the competition authorities of Russia and India are expanding practical cooperation in dealing with global transactions of economic concentration, as well as jointly combating cross-border violations of antimonopoly legislation.
Besides, the agencies are focusing on improving international cooperation mechanisms, including at the UNCTAD platform, in particular through the UNCTAD Working Group on Cross-Border Cartels.
FAS Russia and the Competition Commission of India also cooperate in the BRICS format. Such cooperation is one of the priorities of both countries' foreign policy.
The parties discussed the accession of new members to the association from January 1, 2024. Head of FAS Russia noted that the expansion of the BRICS would allow achieving new results in the joint work of the competition authorities of the association.
