If violations are confirmed, the authority will issue remedies

FAS Russia has strengthened control over the economic validity of tariffs in the field of handling MSW*. The authority conducted an additional analysis of the validity of determination by regional tariff regulation authorities of the costs of transportation of MSW and revealed signs of violations in a number of subjects. They will be inspected by the authority by the end of 2023.

In the first 10 months of 2023, the authority conducted 5 scheduled inspections in the field of MSW management.

Besides, representatives of FAS Russia held a meeting with the regional offices of the authority. It should be reminded that FAS has developed a document on the assignment of authority to its regional offices on tariff inspections. It will rise the coverage of control measures and increase their effectiveness, taking into account regional specifics.

In 2024, the authority will conduct scheduled inspections of tariff decisions in a number of regions. Currently, the schedule is being coordinated with the Prosecutor's office. Regional offices of FAS Russia will also take part in the control and supervisory activities, some of them will be held independently.

* It was told by representatives of FAS Russia at the All-Russian Tariff Conference
