FAS INITIATED CASE AGAINST ST. PETERSBURG METRO FOR SETTING A MONOPOLISTICALLY HIGH PRICE FOR ITS SERVICES
The profitability of the service for placement of mobile operators' equipment in the metro in the first half of 2022 amounted to 2420 %
The authority found that tariffs for the service of placing equipment and cables of mobile operators in tunnels, underground complexes and metro stations of St. Petersburg are economically unreasonable.
According to the authority, the actions of the enterprise create barriers to entering the market of communication services and do not allow operators to build communication networks. It leads to infringement of the interests of economic entities and restricts competition in the market.
FAS Russia notes that the actions of the metro also infringe on the interests of subscribers. Passengers cannot use proper quality mobile communication services in the metro due to the fact that operators have complicated access to the infrastructure of the enterprise.
As a result, FAS Russia initiated an antimonopoly case against the State Unitary Enterprise St. Petersburg Metro*. In case of finding fault, the company faces a fine**.
