FAS RECOGNIZED MEGAFON TELECOM OPERATOR AS VIOLATING ANTIMONOPOLY LEGISLATION
Company announced that it would reduce unreasonably increased tariffs for its services
It should be reminded that in September, after investigating the reasons for the increase in cellular tariffs by a number of mobile operators, FAS Russia initiated an antimonopoly case against the operator. The company increased tariffs for communication services for more than 8.2 million subscribers by an average of 10.24 % and did not provide the Authority with sufficient grounds for an increase.
The authority's commission found the operator guilty of setting and maintaining a monopolistically high price for its services*. The amount of the fine for the company will be determined during the administrative investigation**.
During the meeting of the commission on antimonopoly case review, representatives of the telecom operator reported that they were reducing these unreasonably increased tariffs. The operator plans to do this by February 15, 2024, for this purpose amendments have already been made to the relevant regulations of the company.
