FAS ISSUED A WARNING TO POBEDA AIRLINES
Passenger's fee withheld by the company for correcting the full name in the ticket ranged from 500 to 5000 rubles
FAS Russia received a request regarding the validity of the fee of 5,000 rubles charged by Pobeda Airlines LLC for operations on changing the terms of the passenger air transportation contract.
The authority found out that airline’s passengers had to pay from 500 to 5000 rubles for making changes to their full name or changing/correcting document data when boarding the plane. The company did not provide the authority with evidence of the validity of setting the specified fee amount.
FAS Russia notes that the appropriate fee charged to passengers must be economically justified and proportionate to the actual costs incurred by the carrier.
In the opinion of the authority, the actions of the airline contain signs of abuse of a dominant position*. The authority issued a warning to the company. It must calculate and approve within 30 days a single charge to be withheld from the passenger in the event of a change in the terms of the contract of carriage, based on actual (economically justified) expenses.
At the same time, the airline informed the authority of its readiness to establish a single fee for making changes to the full name of customers in the amount of 800 rubles. Currently, for this purpose adjustments are being made to the relevant regulations of the company.
