FAS RUSSIA AND THE GAMBIA COMPETITION COMMISSION SIGNED MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING AND COOPERATION

The signing took place following the results of bilateral negotiations in the framework of the VIII International Scientific and Practical Conference "Antimonopoly Policy: Science, Practice, Education".
During the bilateral meeting, the parties discussed topical issues of antimonopoly legislation and law enforcement in Russia and The Gambia. Taking into account the high social importance of the food market, the parties noted importance of exchanging experience in this area.
Amadou Ceesay, in turn, said that the country is currently developing amendments to antimonopoly legislation in order to adapt it to digital realities. In this work, The Gambian regulator uses experience of FAS in creating the "fifth antimonopoly package". Besides, the GCCPC initiated a study of competition in the building materials market, therefore results of FAS prices monitoring of building materials will be very useful for the competition authority.
Memorandum describes priority areas for joint work between competition authorities. In particular, the document consolidates the exchange of information on improving antimonopoly legislation through regular meetings, negotiations and working group sessions. The parties also agreed to unite joint efforts to investigate cases of violation antimonopoly legislation in socially important markets.
The document will contribute to development and strengthening interaction between competition authorities in the field of application and improvement of antimonopoly legislation.
