FAS: MAJOR PRODUCERS OF PET FOOD ARE READY TO MAKE VOLUNTARY COMMITMENTS TO REDUCE PRICES

11-03-2024 | 10:45

Mars LLC and Nestle Russia LLC will provide promotional discounts to retail chains for a significant part of the range of cat and dog food

In connection with the receipt of complaints by the Authority from citizens about the prices of cat and dog food, the FAS Russia analyzed the state of competition in this market.

The leaders in the production and sale of such products are the Mars Group of Companies and Nestle Russia LLC. In 2023, their market share amounted to 73.1% of the total sales of cat and dog food. It provides a basis for recognizing them as collectively dominant in the Russian market.

As a result of cooperation with the Authority, Mars LLC and Nestle Russia LLC expressed readiness to undertake voluntary obligations to provide partner retail chains with promotional discounts of up to 30% on a certain range of cat and dog food.

Besides, Nestle Russia LLC has decided to reduce prices for the Darling brand feed, which is the most affordable for consumers.

The FAS Russia will continue to monitor the price situation in this market and, in case of detection of unjustified price increases, will take antimonopoly measures.
