THE RUSSIAN GOVERNMENT HAS LIFTED THE MORATORIUM ON ANTIMONOPOLY INSPECTIONS OF IT COMPANIES
The corresponding resolution was adopted on March 20, 2024
It should be reminded that moratorium on state control over accredited organizations in the field of information technology was established in 2022.
At the same time, the FAS receives a large number of complaints from participants of information technology market, including small and medium-sized enterprises and consumers, about violations by dominant companies, the conduct of inspections in respect of which is limited due to established moratorium.
The main task of antimonopoly regulation is to ensure conditions for commodity markets functioning where all participants are in an equal position and can effectively realize their entrepreneurial potential.
The exclusion of antimonopoly control from moratorium on inspections of IT companies allows effectively combat abuses by dominant digital services and platforms, protect rights and interests of small and medium-sized businesses, prevent cartelization in the field of information technology and contribute to the development of industry under fair competition.
The document will enter into force on March 28, 2024.
