(September, online)
On September 2020 the FAS Russia took part in a virtual dialogue on competition-related provisions in free trade agreements and economic partnership agreements, organized at the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA) at the APEC Forum.
During this event, experts from APEC economies, particularly, Japan, the USA, the Philippines and Canada, shared the best practices on the inclusion of competition issues in free trade agreements and economic partnership agreements, noting the importance of antimonopoly policy as a strategic component of the agenda of the economies of the Asia-Pacific region, including in the framework of resolving the economic crisis caused by the outbreak of coronavirus infection.
Discussion during the Policy Dialogue helped the APEC economies to deepen understanding of the importance of highquality and comprehensive competition related provisions in FTAs/EPAs, especially from a business perspective, in ensuring predictability and inclusiveness.
