FAS officers shared experience of regulating the medicinal drugs market with their Belarus colleagues
A delegation of Belarus competition authority studies control specifics and the legal grounds of FAS work in this field
At the end of July 2017, FAS received on an official visit a Belarus delegation led by Deputy Minister for Antimonopoly Regulation and Commerce of the Republic of Belarus, Artur Karpovich.
The two-day visit programme included consultations on regulating the medicinal drugs market. At the meeting with Deputy Head of FAS Andrey Kashevarov the parties discussed tariff regulation of the drug market, licensing, parallel import, drug substitutability and reimbursement for medicines.
Head of FAS Department for Social Sphere and Trade, Timophei Nizhegorodtsev, informed his Belarus colleagues about the work and structure of the Department, the legal framework underlying activities of the antimonopoly body and the Department, specifics of control and regulating the market of medicinal drugs in Russia, the experience of exposing and suppressing violations, opening and investigating cases on violating the antimonopoly law on the market of medicinal drugs, proving unlawful actions (omissions) performed by the authorities as well as economic entities adversely affecting the state of competition on the drug market. Special attention was paid to FAS judicial practice.
Andrey Kashevarov said: “We hope that the information obtained in the course of official visits, aimed at detailed study of specifics of regulation and control over particular markets, will be useful for Belarus antimonopoly body in its work and will facilitate improvement of sectoral law”.
