The meeting was opened by Andrey Sharonov, Chairman of Public Council. The agency's position on the agenda was outlined by Sergey Puzyrevsky, State Secretary - Deputy Head of FAS Russia, and the heads of the specialized departments.
The draft law of the fifth antimonopoly package*, which amends the current antimonopoly legislation, is currently under consideration in the State Duma. The bill aims to suppress abuses of dominance by owners of digital platforms.
The document was passed in the first reading and is currently being prepared for the second one.
According to the Public Council members, the issues of antimonopoly regulation on digital markets are extremely relevant for the Russian law enforcement and legislation. It was also noted that the developed amendments were based not only on the agency's practice, but also on foreign experience in regulating competition relations in this area.
The members of the Public Council submitted proposals on the adjustment of certain norms of the document, which will be further studied and elaborated.
The event also included a discussion of the payment systems market and tariffs for bank acquiring.
