ANTIMONOPOLY REGULATION SHOULD CHANGE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DIGITALIZATION OF THE ECONOMY

The conference was organized by FAS Russia and the Moscow State Law University named after Kutafin. It was attended by judicial and expert communities, leading scientists, teachers and practicing lawyers.
Sergey Puzyrevsky noted that during the period of transformation of the economy electronic commerce is actively developing. In this context, it is necessary to protect citizens from possible abuses in the digital space. Currently, the State Duma is considering the fifth antimonopoly package*, which introduces changes to the current antitrust legislation. The draft law seeks to suppress abuse of a dominant position by digital platform owners. The second reading is scheduled for the end of April 2023.
In addition, the event included a discussion on parallel imports as well as on the relationship between the need to protect competition and competition immunities in relation to intellectual output.
