BRICS signed the Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation in the field of competition law and policy
BRICS representatives signed the document on 19 May 2016 at the VI Petersburg International Legal Forum.
On behalf of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) the Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Head of FAS Igor Artemiev.
The purpose of the document is to streamline BRICS efforts towards developing and strengthening cooperation in competition law and policy between the parties through information and experience exchange.
In particular, the Memorandum provided for cooperation between the countries in exchanging legislative and enforcement experiences in the field of competition, carrying out joint research, participating in international events.
At the ceremony BRICS representatives commented on the importance of the signed document.
Igor Artemiev emphasized: “Today’s event is of absolute historic significance. The Memorandum gives a new momentum to conjoint competition policy since our unification is power”.
