FAS summed up the results of the II Essay Contest for undergraduate and MA students - “Point of Growth”

FAS summed up the results of the works submitted for the II Essay Contest for undergraduate and MA students - “Point of Growth”. The contest took place on 1 November 2016 - 1 April 2017 attracting around 300 contestants.

The Contest objective is to increase legal and civil culture of the students in the filed of competition policy.

The Contest idea is to attract student attention to competition law and help understand the need to protect competitive environment in order to form conditions for developing the economy, enable them to show their civic position.

Undergraduate and MA students from 29 Russian cities and towns submitted individual papers. This year most participants were from Chelyabinsk and Stavropol; Ufa was on the third place.

Russian universities and lecturers, whose students took an active part in the essay contest and sent more than 10 papers, received FAS Recognition Letters for  their strong contribution in youth education and mentoring, popularizing the idea of fair competition and its importance in national economic development.

The essay themes covered various pressing issues of competition protection and development. The most interesting and sought-after topics out of the list of 14 items became:

  1. Competition and monopoly – advantages and shortcoming. (58 papers)
  2. Import substitution as a mechanism of stimulating Russian producers.(57 papers)
  3. How is advertising different from any other information about goods or brands? (51 papers)

45 participants became the winners, including 14 laureates who took the first place in nominations.

FAS invited the contest laureates and those who took the 2 and 3 places for internship in the Central and regional FAS Offices.

FAS expresses its gratitude to all Contest participants, lecturers, universities and the contest commission.

Head of FAS Public Relations Department, Irina Kashutina commented the Contest and its results: “We are very grateful that our “Point of Growth” Essay Contest found a broad response among young people. Activity of undergraduate and MA students in the regions is very rewarding, where sometimes the most complex issues of competition protection and development are solved. The Contest became the starting point, point of growth for every undergraduate or MA student as future market participants in a competitive environment. We’d like to wish all participants success, new discoveries and new victories”.
