Karelia OFAS opened a case based on the data supplied by transport police
A bid-rigging case is opened upon materials of a criminal case against top executive of “Belomorcanal” Administrative Authority” Federal Budgetary Institution and a director of a commercial firm
The criminal case is being investigated by Petrozavodsk Transit Police (the Ministry of Interior) under Part 3 Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud).
Under the frame of interdepartmental cooperation, the Investigation Unit of the Transport Policy forwarded some materials of the criminal case, that contain information about possible violation of the antimonopoly law in the course of a tender, to the regional antimonopoly body.
Karelia OFAS established signs of breaching Article 16 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition”: concluding an anticompetitive agreement between an official of the ordering party and an economic entity in the course of timber procurement by “Belomorcanal” Administrative Authority.
Should the violation be confirmed, the economic entity – a member of the agreement may be administratively fined up 50% of the initial costs of the tender subject.
The official of the ordering party may be fined up to 50000 RUB or disqualified for up to three years.
Head of Karelia OFAS Artur Pyrakhin pointed out: “Opening another similar case is a result of continued efficient cooperation between the regional comeptit0on body and the law enforcement bodies of the Republic of Karelia in our joint efforts to expose dangerous economic and corruption crimes”.
