HEAD OF FAS EXTENDS CONGRATULATIONS WITH THE 15TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE COMPETITION AUTHORITY
Dear colleagues, friends, and the like-minded,
With great pleasure and pride I’d like to congratulate all of you today with a jubilee - the 15th anniversary of the Federal Antimonopoly Service.
Although the history of antimonopoly regulation in Russia already counts 28 years - since the State Committee on Antimonopoly Policy and Support of New Economic Structures was formed in 1990 - 15 years of FAS work is the time for drawing some conclusions and selecting the way forward.
In recent years we have been able to harmonize Russian antimonopoly law with the European system so that OECD recognized that our law matches the best world practices.
For many years FAS has been in the top-20 best enforcers in the world according to the Global Competition Review.
We managed to build up an efficient system to counter cartels – a malignant tumor in the Russian economy.
We watch carefully any changes in the economy and react to new challenges facing the antimonopoly bodies. Digital economy dictates new rules of the game on the markets so we have drafted the fifth antimonopoly digital package of laws.
Upon issuing No.618 Order of the President of the Russian Federation that approved the National Plan for economic development, a new stage of antimonopoly regulation is launched in Russia: we are moving from competition protection to its intensive development together with industry and regional authorities.
We have been able to achieve incredibly much thanks to our consolidated and friendly alliance – between the Centre and the regions, top officials and the staff, path breakers and heavyweights, mentors and followers. In 15 years, our good tradition emerged and strengthened: to argue and win proving our rightness, achieve results and improve them. We work a lot. We work well. And we do it right – for the benefit of consumers and for development of the national economy.
