FAS SHALL VERIFY BUCKWHEAT PRODUCERS AND PROCESSORS

The decision was made during a teleconference

Due to an appeal of the Russia Union of Flour-Grinding and Cereal Companies about increasing buckwheat prices, on 11 November 2019 FAS held a teleconference with FAS regional Offices and representatives of agro-industrial management bodies in the buckwheat-producing regions to discuss the environment on the market of buckwheat and buckwheat groats.

A decision was made to check whether prices fixed by both buckwheat producers and processors are justified.

Following the teleconference, Anna Mirochinenko, Head of FAS Department for Control over Agro-Industrial Complex, pointed out: “The market environment in all regions that are the major buckwheat producers is under control of FAS regional Offices. No shortage is observed on the market. Although now facts of antimonopoly violations are exposed so far, we decided to verify whether prices fixed by both buckwheat producers and processers are reasonable”.
