FAS OPENED A CASE AGAINST A CARTEL FORMED TO MAINTAIN PRICES FOR ORTHOPEDIC PRODUCTS

The case is opened upon inspection outcomes

In 2019 FAS carried out unscheduled on-site inspections of “Trives Trade” Ltd., “Medexpert” Ltd. and “Maltree” Ltd.

Following the inspection findings, some other companies came to FAS attention and a case upon signs of violating Clause 1 Part 1 Article 11 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition” against: Trives Trade” Ltd., “Optomed” Ltd., “Medexpert” Ltd., “Maltree” Ltd., “ORTO” Ltd., “OTTO BOKK Service” Ltd., and “Ecoten” Ltd.

Head of FAS Anti-Cartel Department Andrey Tenishev stated: “Cartels on socially important markets are in the focus of our special attention, they are especially cynical because they harm not only competition but also socially unprotected groups of the population. According to FAS data, the cartel used price algorithms to maintain market prices”.
