FAS AND THE BANK OF RUSSIA CONTINUE EXCHANGING EXPERIENCE
The first meeting of the inter-departmental Working Group on analyzing the current practice of preventing, exposing and suppressing violations of the antimonopoly and the law on countering unlawful use of insider information and marker manipulation
The meeting was opened by Head of the Working Group, Head of FAS Anti-Cartel Department Andrey Tenishev: “Anticompetitive practices and market manipulation practices are constantly transforming and improving particularly, through digital technologies. In this context, exchanging relevant experiences and techniques between regulators is an efficient method to counter such conduct of economic entities”.
The Working Group discussed the most pressing issues such as control over commodities exchanges, employment of machine learning to exposed unfair market practices and some others.
“FAS is constantly improving the methods of exposing and proving anticompetitive agreements, particularly, with use of digital modalities. Therefore, possibility of exchanging experiences with the colleagues from the Bank of Russia on employing achievements of digitalization in our collaboration is essential for us”, emphasized Deputy Head of the Working Group, Deputy Head of FAS Anti-Cartel Department, Anton Teslenko.
Following the meeting, Head of FAS Anti-Cartel Department Andrey Tenishev invited the staff of the Bank of Russia to take part in the V Anniversary Research-to-Practice Conference “Antimonopoly Policy: Science, practice, Education”, with the main focus on the New trends of competition policy in the modern conditions”.
