THE TATARSTAN OFFICE OF THE FEDERAL ANTIMONOPOLY SERVICE (TATARSTAN OFAS) INITIATED AN ANTIMONOPOLY CASE AGAINST REGIONAL POULTRY FARMS
The service found indications of an anti-competitive agreement in the actions of major producers of poultry meat and eggs
The specialists of FAS Russia carried out an unscheduled on-site inspection of the Derzhavinskaya poultry farm LLC and Ak Bars poultry complex LLC, which exposed indications of violation of the Federal Law on Protection of Competition*, namely the conclusion of an anti-competitive agreement between economic entities. Such an agreement has resulted in or may result in higher prices for eggs.
In case of establishing the fact of violation, turnover-based fines can be imposed on companies**.
It should be reminded that the inspections of compliance of the major producers of poultry meat and eggs with the antimonopoly legislation are carried out by the territorial offices of the FAS Russia in 24 regions of the country on behalf of the Government of the Russian Federation. Inspections are carried out as part of monitoring and rapid response to changes in consumer prices for staple foods.
The inspections are not completed to date. The analysis of the retail prices for eggs in the major federal and regional trading networks is also ongoing.
