COMPETITION COMMUNITY HAS TO FIND EFFECTIVE METHODS OF COMBATING CROSS-BORDER CARTELS
FAS proposes to develop a systematic UN guidelines on international cooperation in the sphere of countering cartels
Andrey Tsyganov, Deputy Head of the FAS Russia told about this at the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts (IGE) on Competition Law and Policy UNCTAD.
Andrey Tsyganov noted, that due to the lack of tools for international cooperation in the fight against cross-border cartels, it is important to focus on the development of cooperation mechanisms, as well as the expansion and updating of methodological documents, which is especially important for countries with developing and transition economies.
For this purpose, Deputy Head of the FAS Russia proposed to designate as the goal of the UNCTAD Working Group on Cross-border Cartels for the next years the development of a detailed and systematic UN guidelines on international cooperation in the field of combating cross-border cartels.
The new document will significantly facilitate the process of establishing international contacts in the antimonopoly sphere and increase the efficiency of investigating the activities of cross-border cartels.
The initiative of the FAS Russia was positively received by the UN member states, the corresponding provision was fixed in the resolution documents of the 19th session of the IGE UNCTAD.
