FAS INITIATED A CASE AGAINST ALFA-BANK JSC
The FAS Russia revealed signs of violation of the Law on Advertising in the actions of the bank
The FAS Russia received an appeal from a citizen with claims against the advertising of the loyalty program of Alfa-Bank JSC, which was distributed on the air of a federal TV channel.
The advertisement claimed that the client would be awarded points for opening an account. At the same time, the information that the promotion was valid only when the first account was opened was placed in an explanatory footnote in small print for a short time.
Besides, the commercial included information that the product of Alfa-Bank JSC is the “best loyalty program”. The objective criteria for comparing the service were also indicated in the explanatory footnote in small print for a short time. This presentation of information did not allow consumers to read the footnote data.
According to the FAS Russia, such actions of the bank may mislead consumers and contain signs of violation of the Law on Advertising. *
The FAS Russia will evaluate the video of Alfa-Bank JSC for violations of advertising legislation. If the organization is found guilty, it will face a fine.
Earlier, the FAS Russia initiated proceedings against the bank for violations in advertising of loan, credit and debit cards, as well as for the indication of false information about the acquiring fee in the advertisement.
