On 26 August 2016, the Ministry of Justiceof the Russian Federation registered FAS Order “On approving the Guidelines for estimating tariffs for towing and safekeeping of detained vehicles and setting payment deadlines”.

The Guidelines are devised to execute No. 205 Federal Law that amends the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Violations. The law comes into force on 1 September 2016.

The document outlines general principles and the main methods of setting tariffs for towing and safekeeping of detained vehicles and setting payment deadlines for such services.

Tariffs may vary depending on the vehicle dimensions, weight and categories.

The final towing and safekeeping costs will be determined through open tende4rs organized by the authorities of constituent territories of the Russian Federation.

The authorities in Russian regions will be able to independently determine the payment deadlines for vehicle towing and safekeeping, which, however, cannot be shorter than 30 days.

According to Deputy Head of FAS, Sergey Puzyrevskiy, the Guidelines were forwarded to the regions on 29 August 2016.
