«The Russian Competition Week» started in the Moscow region on 26 September
The international event «The Russian Competition Week» started in the Moscow region on 26 September. It is organized by the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia); this year it commemorates the 25th anniversary of establishing FAS regional offices.
The event started with a jubilee session of the Headquarters for Joint Investigations of the Violations of the Antimonopoly Legislation in the CIS Countries at a branch of Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) in Odintsovo.
Then there was a joint session of the International Working Group for Research of Competition Issues in the Market of International Telecommunications (Roaming) and the Headquarters focusing on “Fair Roaming” and “Competition in the Digital Economy”; and in the afternoon – an International Round Table on “Bid-Rigging” organized jointly by FAS and a Non-Profit Partnership for “Competition Support in the CIS Countries”.
The agenda for 27 September includes a meeting of BRICS Coordination Committee on Antimonopoly Policy and BRICS Working Group on studying competition on the food product markets; a discussion of the Headquarters and the Working Group for Research on the Competition Issues in the Pharmaceutical Sector: “Pricing on the pharmaceutical markets: regional and global regulation”.
There also will be a number of negotiations with representatives of the competition authorities of South Africa, Austria, Italy, Bulgaria, and Brazil.
The highlight of the event will be an extended meeting of FAS Collegium on 28 September at the Moscow Regional Government. The key speakers will be First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Igor Shuvalov; the Head of FAS Igor Artemiev; a minister of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Abyzov; and the governor of the Moscow region Andrey Vorob’yov.
