Talks between the Head of the competition authorities of Russia and Bulgaria during the Russian Competition Week
On 27 September 2016, the Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) Igor Artemiev had talks with the Head of the Bulgaria’s Commission for Protection of Competition, Yulia Ratcheva Nenkova.
Igor Artemiev discussed with Bulgarian colleagues a positive effect caused by the synergy of powers on antimonopoly and tariff regulation in Russia. We decided to opt for the model of the competition authorities of Holland and Australia, combining antimonopoly and tariff functions at FAS. Even earlier we were given the powers to control over procurement in both civil affairs and in public defence. It forces companies to listen to our recommendations and decisions”, clarified Igor Artemiev.
The Head of FAS proposed to the colleagues from the Bulgarian competition authority to look into the possibilities of joint investigations on socially important markets such as food products, air carriage, Internet-services, fuel and pharmaceuticals.
The parities discussed possibility of Bulgarian colleagues to join global benchmarking on the markets of medicinal drugs and fuel that FAS is already doing with its colleagues from Austria, Italy and other countries.
Yulia Ratcheva Nenkova emphasized the importance of joint efforts against cartels and invited Russian colleagues to take part in the Sofia Competition Forum in November 2016.
