FAS delegation had a meeting with India’s Competition Commission
On 20 October 2016, the 15th session of the UNCTAD intergovernmental group of experts on competition law and policy in Geneva (Switzerland) included a working meeting of FAS delegation led by Deputy Head of FAS Andrey Tsyganov with the Chairperson of India’s Competition Commission, Devender Kumar Sikri.
The parties discussed further areas of cooperation between FAS and India’s Competition Commission in the format of BRICS Working Groups on pharmaceuticals, food products and car manufacturing industry. The participants also discussed cooperation in studying competition on the transport market in the BRICS format as well the bilateral format.
Mr. Sikri expressed interest in discussing these issues at the international research-to-practice conference “Antimonopoly Policy: Science, Practice, Education” in Moscow on 6-7 December 2016.
“Under the conditions of market globalization, cooperation between competition authorities is of special significance for countering unfair practices of large corporations. In this context India and Russia that are huge economies must build up a constructive dialogue on developing competition. FAS and India’s Competition Commission already have a long history of fruitful cooperation, and we hope the trend will maintain in the future”, pointed out Andrey Tsyganov.
