FAS opened a Department of Competition Law and Antimonopoly Regulation at Moscow University of Finance and Law
The Federal Antimonopoly Service officially opened the Department of Competition Law and Antimonopoly Regulation at Moscow University of Finance and Law. Head of Moscow OFAS, Armen Khyanyan, Candidate of Science (Economics) is appointed Head of the Department.
According to Rector of Moscow University of Finance and Law,Alexey Zabelin, it is exceptionally difficult to pursue efficient antimonopoly policy, and specially trained staff is necessary that clearly understands what is competition and what benefits is brings to the society. The Department is formed in order to attract students’ attention and train the required specialists that will be able to protect the national interests.
Deputy Head of FAS Maxim Ovchinnikov further developed the theme: "We give serious attention to science and education; many our staff members hold advanced academic degrees, and are Candidates of Science".
The importance of special education for antimonopoly policy is obvious. "I would like to express hope that we will create a powerful mechanism for training highly skilled specialists in antimonopoly regulation who will be the “standard” in their profession", concluded Head of the Department, Armen Khyanyan.
At the official Department-opening ceremony, Branch Director of FAS Centre for Education and Methodics (Moscow) Stanislav Druzhinin, and Rector of Moscow University of Finance and Law,Alexey Zabelin, signed an Agreement on Cooperation. The organizations will cooperate in the field of advancing staff qualification, the quality of educational process, joint research projects and joint presentations by lecturers and FAS staff on the pressing issues of antimonopoly law.
