The Inter-Government Commission on Economic Cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan discussed competition policy
On 15 February 2017, a FAS delegation led by Deputy Head of FAS, Andrey Tsyganov took part in the 18th session of the Inter-Government Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan in Tashkent (the Republic of Uzbekistan).
The Commission discussed a broad range of the issues on economic cooperation between the two countries, particular, in the field of competition policy.
Upon consent between FAS and the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Privatization, Demonopolization and Development of Competition, the final Protocol included provisions on developing cooperation between the antimonopoly bodies of Russia and Uzbekistan.
“Such events are extremely useful for us”, emphasized Andrey Tsyganov. “It is indicative that a meeting between the FAS delegation and top executives of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Privatization, Demonopolization and Developing Competition took place directly before the 18th session of the Inter-Government Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan. No doubt, one of the prospects of further cooperation will be joint investigations of violations of the antimonopoly law and intensive informational and experience exchange. We have already agreed on the first priority steps with Davron A. Khidoyatov, the Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Privatization, Demonopolization and Development of Competition”.
