Awards found their heroes

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) invited the winners of the “Point of Growth” essay contest - students and post-graduate students from Moscow – for the award ceremony where they also received memorable gifts.

It was already the II “Point of Growth” contest, in which more than 300 BA and MA students took part.

The idea was to enhance the legal and civic culture of students, attract the attention of young people to competition law issues and increase awareness of the need to protect competitive environment in order to maintain conditions for economic development. The essay contest became a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate their civic-mindedness and make it more vocal.

All participants who sent their individual essays to the contest received an electronic Certificate of Participation. FAS sent Letters of Recognition to 12 Russian universities and 8 lecturers for their strong contribution in youth education and upbringing, for popularizing the ideas of fair competition and its significance in developing Russian economy.

45 BA and MA students from 17 Russian regions became the winners of the “Point of Growth” essay contest, including 14 laureates that took the I place in the following nominations:

  1. Maxim Komelkov, Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Moscow, in the nomination: “Cross-border markets of EAEU countries: how to form a competitive field and reduce administrative barriers?”
  2. Tatiana Glebova, All-Russian State University of Justice (Russian Law Academy), Moscow,  in the nomination: “Import substitution as a mechanism of stimulating Russian producers”
  3. Alexandra Sukhareva, Siberian Institute of Administration  - a branch of Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, Novosibirsk, in the nomination: “Competition and monopoly – advantages and shortcomings”
  4. Svetlana Bairamukova, Stavropol State Agrarian University, Stavropol, in the nomination: “Specifics of developing competition on regulated markets”
  5. Zhanna Bodrova, Saratov State Law Academy, Saratov, in the nomination: “Industrial and competition policy – confrontation or complementarity?”
  6. Roman Aliev, Chelyabinsk State University, Chelyabinsk, in the nomination: “Improving the law on procurement in the Russian Federation^ proposals and comments”
  7. Timur Nigmatullin, Orenburg Institute (a branch) of Kutafin Moscow State Law University, Orenburg, in the nomination: “Race for the first place in tenders. Any means to an end?
  8. Yulia Svistunova, Stavropol State Agrarian University, Stavropol, in the nomination: “How does advertising differ from any other information about goods or brands?”
  9. Elena Doronina, Novosibirsk State Technical University, Novosibirsk, in the nomination: “Marketing technologies in promotion – the limits under the competition rules”
  10.  Yulia Salimonenko, South Urals State University, Chelyabinsk, in the nomination: “Public preferences and administrative barriers – where are the limits”
  11.  Victoria Arutyunyan, Lipetsk branch of Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Lipetsk, in the nomination: “Administrative barriers on the markets, the ways to overcome (the case of a particular market)
  12.  Tatiana Mochalova, Borisoglebsk Technical School of Industrial and Information Technologies, Borisoglebsk, the Voronezh region, in the nomination: “The Competition Development Standard as a tool of creating favourable  business environment”
  13.  Nuria Shagieva, Bashkiria Academy of Public Administration and Management under the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Ufa, in the nomination: “Supporting development of small and medium business in FAS practice”
  14. Alina Klepikovskaya, South Urals State University (National Research University), Chelyabinsk, in the nomination: “Approaches and organization of efficient means of control and supervision and motivation of the staff of inspection authorities”.

All laureates and contestants that took the II and III places are invited for internship with FAS or its regional bodies when it’s convenient for them. The contest winners from the regions will be invited to FAS regional Offices to the award ceremonies.

The winners received a warm welcome from Stats-Secretary, Deputy Head of FAS Andrey Tsarikovsky, who congratulated them and expressed hope for their interest in further cooperation: “It would be great to develop a tradition that our winners of the “Point of Growth” essay contests not only come for practice in the antimonopoly bodies but can also become postgraduate students at our specialized Competition Law Departments of the leading Russian universities, so that the point put at the end of the essay would become the starting point in the growth of a future professional and defender of competition”.
