FAS: COMPANIES OF KRONOSHPAN GROUP PAID ANTIMONOPOLY FINES OF 221.9 MILLION RUBLES

In 2022, the Authority recognized Kronoshpan LLC and Kronoshpan OSB LLC as violating antimonopoly legislation

The Authority found that the Kronoshpan Group of companies* was the largest manufacturer of OSB-plates and occupied a dominant position in this market. At the same time, the analysis of the economic activity indicators of the companies showed that the cost of production of OSB-plates did not significantly increase, unlike the price. These circumstances confirmed the existence of unreasonably high margins on products.

The Group of companies was issued a remedy to ensuring competition. In order to implement it, the companies have developed draft trade and sales policies aimed at increasing transparency of pricing and interaction with counterparties. At the moment, the documents are being finalized by organizations taking into account the comments of the Authority.

As part of the administrative proceedings, fines were imposed: 176 557 824 rubles for Kronoshpan LLC and 45 302 362 rubles for Kronoshpan OSB LLC.

In January 2024, the companies paid the fines. The funds were transferred to the budget of the Russian Federation.

It should be noted that the decision, the remedy and the fine in relation to the group of companies were previously supported by the courts of two instances.
