FAS representatives took part in the IV International Forum – “Anti-counterfeit-2016”
Pressing issues of combating counterfeit and falsified products in various industry sectors within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) were discussed at the IV International Forum – “Anti-counterfeit-2016” in Yerevan, attended by representatives ofthe leadership and top officials of specialized departments of the EAEU member-states.
Special attention at the Forum was paid to the legal aspects of protecting and enhancing quality control on the market, protecting the intellectual property rights and the results of the efforts of the law enforcement, customs and administrative authorities of the EAEU member-states.
A delegation of the antimonopoly body led by Deputy Head of FAS Andrey Kashevarov took part in the plenary session and the specialized sections of “Anti-counterfeit-2016” Forum. Mr. Kashevarov focused his speech at the Plenary session on the FAS initiatives designed to overcome administrative barriers for business in Russia. For instance, he discussed the progress in legitimizing parallel import in EAEU and presented the FAS position on forced licensing on the pharmaceutical market “as means of countering abuses by the right-holders under possible emergencies”.
Andrey Kashevarov also discussed protection of rights for sport symbols in advance of the international sport events to be held in Russia in 2017-2018 under the FIFA aegis and called upon his colleagues from the EAEU member-states to “pay special attention to suppressing import of goods that breach FIFA property rights”.
While in Yerevan, the FAS representatives also visited the antimonopoly body of the Republic of Armenia – the State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition, where they discussed with their colleagues some important issues of antimonopoly enforcement within the Eurasian Economic Union as well as efficient facilitation of the common market development. In particular, representatives of the antimonopoly bodies considered problematic aspects of economic entities from the Republic of Armenia entering the market of the Russian Federation and protection of the rights of Armenian businessmen based on the norms of the antimonopoly law.
