Russia and South Africa intend to carry out joint investigations of cartel cases
Antimonopoly bodies of Russia and South Africa will strengthen cooperation in joint investigations of cases on violating competition
Stats-Secretary, Deputy Head of FAS Andrey Tsarikovskiy had a meeting with Hardin Ratshisusu, Deputy Commissioner of the Competition Commission of the South African Republic.
Representatives of the antimonopoly bodies discussed regulatory practice and investigation automobile markets on the car markets of two countries.
According to Hardin Ratshisusu, from 2000 South African Competition Commission opened 238 cases against 61 respondents on violating the national competition act in the part of fixing prices, bid-rigging and dividing the markets of car spare parts.
Andrey Tsarikovskiy informed his foreign colleague on cartel-countering practice in Russia. The parties discussed possibility of joint investigations of cartels in the automobile sector and signing an agreement at the government level, which will enable to exchange confidential information at the state of preliminary investigation.
Arrangements were reached on joint investigations of the markets of social importance (pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, car manufacturing, food products).
