Traditional meetings with students and schoolchildren before the end-of-term exams and school holidays

In December 8-grade schoolchildren from the “President” School” Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization and 2-year MA students from Plekhanov Russian Economic University had tours to the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia). In spite of the visitors’ age difference, they were united in their interest tin competition law, antimonopoly regulation and had a lot of questions to FAS representatives.

Schoolchildren from the “President” School positioned themselves as future businessmen, owners of big businesses and top-managers.  They were interested in learning how the antimonopoly law works, in what cases and what punishment can be imposed upon officials for violating the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition”, and tried to understand the concepts of “unfair competition” and “dominant position”.

Deputy Head of FAS Legal Department Vadim Kuzmin answered all questions raised by children. He modeled different situations from business practice and forced pupils to contemplate, choosing the development and conduct strategy on the market of an imaginary company.

One of the excursionists commented: “The visit to FAS was very useful. The information that we received will help us in the future if we become entrepreneurs”.

MA students from Plekhanov Russian Economic University were lucky to meet with Deputy Head of FAS Maxim Ovchinnikov. Future specialists on contractual system asked a lot of practical questions. They learned from Deputy Head of FAS about the significance of the contractual systems for the national economy, the principles of fair trading and possible consequences of violating the law on contractual system, the methods of countering corruption in public procurement. Maxim Ovchinnikov explained to future specialists that “the purpose of the contractual system is to achieve efficient economy and prevent adverse consequences for the national GDP caused by violations of the law on public procurement by representatives of business or the authorities”.

MA students also showed an active interest in a possibility to joint FAS staff and were given exhaustive information about the employment practice and procedures with the antimonopoly body.

In 2017 FAS will again open its doors for students and schoolchildren who are interested in antimonopoly regulation and a possibility to form and develop competitive environment in Russia.
